Arashi is an unique textile dyeing technique, one of 6 methods of the ancient Japanese art of Shibori. The subtle chevron pattern is created by wrapping fabric around a pole and tying it tightly with string before dyeing, then unwrapping and revealing the pattern, which is shaded depending on how close to the surface and saturated by the sye it becomes...therefore it is  slightly different every time.
